What can we do in London at Easter?

Stealing the Crown Jewels

This Easter, the Tower of London is going back to 1671 when Colonel Blood plotted to steal the Crown Jewels. If you’re interested in this Robbery at the Tower, there’s a family trail to help you find out what happened and track Blood and his gang down. The trail is part of the admission price to the Tower. And remember you can save money on your Tower tickets, and a massive 50% on your Circular Cruise tickets, if you book online and use the discount code TOL2019 at the checkout.

See Tower Bridge lift

What can be better than seeing the majestic Tower Bridge (nearest pier: Tower Bridge Quay)? Seeing it raised to allow boats to pass underneath. When you’re in London over the Easter holidays, check out the Lift Times for Tower Bridge and make sure you’re in the area in order to get a good view. You can also visit the bridge to find out more about the mechanics of its operation and get a bird’s eye view of the river from the high-level glass walkways between the towers.

We were there

Over the Easter holidays, you’ll be able to meet and talk to war veterans on board HMS Belfast (nearest pier: Tower Bridge Quay). On Wednesday 10th and Wednesday 17th April, veterans and eyewitnesses who have experienced or witnessed conflicts first-hand will be available and willing to talk about life on the front line. These unique family-friendly sessions are included in HMS Belfast’s general admission cost.

Shakespeare for 7-11s

Guided tours of the Globe Theatre (nearest pier: Bankside) happen every day, but over Easter you can also go on Family Tours which are aimed specifically at children aged 7 to 11. Not only will the whole family get to see the theatre itself, you’ll also find out more about Elizabethan life, and what it was like going to the theatre all those years ago.

The Passion of Jesus

On Good Friday, Trafalgar Square (nearest pier: Embankment) will be the open-air stage for The Passion of Jesus, a recreation of the final days of Jesus by the Wintershall theatre company with a host of volunteers. There will be two 90-minute performances, one beginning at midday, the other at 3.15pm. Thousands of people are expected to attend, so be prepared to stand or sit on the floor. There will be big screens so everyone will get a good view.

View from the river

With the weather getting warmer and sunnier (hopefully!), what better way of seeing London than from the river. Circular Cruise operates a hop on-hop off service between Westminster and Tower Bridge, giving you the chance to travel in style between some of London’s best tourist attractions. It’s a great way to spend a day with the kids during the Easter holidays! Click here to book now.
