8 Oct 2018 — Thames River Sightseeing
Travel back in time at the Tower of London (nearest pier: Tower Bridge Quay) to meet Sir Walter Raleigh on the 400th anniversary of his execution. One of the Tower’s most famous prisoners, he had been a favourite of Queen Elizabeth I but did not enjoy the support of her successor, James I, who imprisoned him as a traitor before beheading him. There are all-day activities based on Raleigh’s life, and live performances at 11am, 1pm and 3pm every day between 20th and 28th October.
If you’re watching the pennies, but want to make the most of your day out, take advantage of our Tower of London offer – if you buy your Tower tickets at the same time as your Circular Cruise tickets, you’ll not only save on normal entry prices, you’ll also get your cruise tickets for half price.
A one-off event taking place at the Tate Modern (nearest pier: Bankside) on the afternoon of 28th October between 2.30pm and 3.30pm. Author and illustrator, Emily Rand, will run a workshop based on her book, The Lost Property Office, which takes readers on a magical journey in search of a lost toy.
Who doesn’t love a grizzly tale of witches, ghosts, murder and mayhem? And one of the most famous stories of murderers who get their comeuppance is Shakespeare’s Macbeth. This half-term, the Globe Theatre (nearest pier: Bankside) will be running workshops and storytelling sessions aimed at introducing Macbeth to children aged between 5 and 12. Check the website for dates and times.
On 24th and 26th of October, veterans and eyewitnesses of conflicts from World War 2 onwards will be at HMS Belfast (nearest pier: Bankside). The history books may record the facts, but those who were there can tell you so much more, and the veterans taking part will be happy to talk to you about their personal experiences.
All aboard The Golden Hinde (nearest pier: Bankside) for adventures of mysterious ships and monsters. Between 10th and 28th October, your kids can enjoy a fun shadow puppet theatre show starring the young Francis Drake. The Golden Hinde is a replica of the ship on which Drake famously circumnavigated the world between 1577 and 1580.
Introduce the kids to the enduringly popular Peanut cartoons at Somerset House (nearest pier: Embankment). From 25th October, check out this exhibition of Schultz’s original work which will be displayed alongside the work of other artists and designers who have been inspired by the gentle humour and enduring appeal of Charlie Brown.
Whatever the weather this half-term, the kids will always love a trip along the River Thames. Click here to book your Circular Cruise tickets now.
