Embankment Pier

Embankment Pier is on the north side of the river near Charing Cross Station. It’s close to London landmarks such as Trafalgar Square where you’ll find Nelson’s Column, the National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery, and a little further afield, the lively area of Covent Garden.

Just a few yards away from the pier is Cleopatra’s Needle, the Ancient Egyptian obelisk which has stood on the banks of the Thames since the Victorians crowdfunded its transport from Alexandria to London.

From Embankment Pier you can take the TRS service across the river to Festival Pier. However, if you’re feeling fit, it only takes a few minutes to walk over the Golden Jubilee Bridge in order to explore the South Bank.
